Debbie Billington, CMT

I am a graduate of Charles Page High School and a lifelong resident of the Tulsa and Sand Springs area. I received my massage technician and therapist certifications from the Massage Therapy Institute of Oklahoma (M.T.I.O.) and I have 16+ years experience. I am also certified in Pre-Natal, Chronic Pain, Geriatric and Sports massage.

After earning my certification I worked with a group called 'Mind Over M.S.', whose work was very successful working with multiple sclerosis patients. I also moved to Oklahoma City for a short time. On April 19, 1995, I was in a building at the state capital complex when the Murrah Building was bombed. I waited for my Tulsa massage colleagues to arrive and then spent days at the Myriad Center working with many therapists who came from across the country to help the rescue workers. This was is still most rewarding work I've ever done in my life.

Shortly after everyone went home, I, too, came home to Tulsa to work at the Fifth Street Fitness Club and was privileged to work with a group of marathon runners who were training for the 100th Boston Marathon. This was the beginning of a passion for working with athletes. I have been honored to work with various levels of athletes from amateur, and collegiate, and even professional athletes. At the same time I participate in Y-Me's Camp Hope for breast cancer survivors several times a year, and I still enjoy working with older clients.

Client Testimonials

As you may know, the therapists at Rē do not solicit or advocate that our clients submit testimonials about us, the following are voluntarily submitted.

I had a partial rotator cuff injury a couple years ago from a car accident and was unable to take continuous oral medications for pain and to control inflammation due to stomach problems.  When asked if there was any alternative that could help control pain, my orthopedic doctor recommended the therapists at Rē. With a combination of physical therapy and therapeutic massage and then continuing with occasional therapeutic massage thereafter, I regained complete range of motion and have no pain in my shoulder.  This was despite the physician’s belief that my injury would definitely require surgery.  More recently I have gotten help with pain due to a sciatic nerve problem and arthritis in my knees.  Christopher has been able to help relieve pain and spasms related to these conditions.  I have noticed that I am walking more normally and with less pain following sessions.  Having worked through these issues with Christopher has made me realize how much the pain is related to soft tissue issues rather than with bone issues.  What I would once have gone to a chiropractor for, I now would seek their help for several reasons.  Primarily, once the muscle spasms are relieved, the back or joints seem to naturally go back into position; secondly, when the muscle spasms are stopped, I realized that there was no more pain and that the muscle spasms were the real source of the pain.  Lastly, I prefer this therapy to a chiropractic solution as I don’t seem to find the same success with a chiropractor.  I probably would have never tried this approach, and might have even been somewhat apprehensive of this, had I not pressed my orthopedic specialist for an alternative solution.  I am so glad that I was introduced to this method of treatment and would recommend trying Rē.  I don’t think that you will regret it!  Whether you are needing help with a pain issue or just need a relaxing massage, Rē is the most professional and knowledgeable group of therapists that I have used.  - L.H.

Rē is the place to go for the best deep tissue massage!  I have been to many therapists and this is the best by far!  I have scoliosis and have a job that requires a lot of computer work. My New Year's resolution in 2008 was to treat my body right and get regular massages. You should do the same! - J.S. Chris Deery is not your ordinary massage therapist.  His vast training and knowledge about the body impress me every time I visit with him. After I leave, I don’t just feel relaxed like I do after an average nice massage (and I’ve had plenty of those, enjoyable but not comparable to Chris’s); I feel like I completed a therapy session for mind, body, and soul, and that the specific physical problems I had were treated. I started seeing Chris because I had broken my tibia from crashing a moped in Taiwan, and the surgery had been done incorrectly. I received corrective surgery at St. Francis Hospital in Tulsa, but my American surgeon had been concerned that I may not get full mobility back since there had been three months between surgeries.

When I started receiving therapy from Chris, I had severe inflammation and poor circulation and from the surgery and considerable atrophy from three months on crutches. My entire body felt crooked and poorly aligned from having to place all my weight on one side of my body.  After one of Chris’s massages, I would feel as if I could get up off the massage table and walk out the front door, a whole person again. My knee was visibly less swollen after my massages and my movement smoother and less painful. Chris has treated many athletes with various injuries and so he has gotten used to reading people’s bodies and healing their pains.

After three months of rest and visiting Chris bi-weekly, I am ready to start walking.  My swelling has decreased more each time immediately after getting my massages, and my knee now bends like it used to do! Besides the physical advantages, Chris’s network of skilled professionals benefited me greatly.  Chris recommended the first doctor I visited after returning from Taiwan who gave me invaluable advice, as well as a wonderful physical therapist who just gave me my first workout.  Chris himself also gave me continual feedback on what to expect during my recovery period and was able to help suggest exercises to help me build my muscles and increase my mobility while I was waiting to start physical therapy.

Chris Deery’s positive energy has also contributed to my recovery. He is very professional, but at the same time it is obvious that he is concerned for his patients’ well-being. Chris loves his work, which is reflected not only in his positive spirit, but also in his patients’ recovery. I am overwhelmingly grateful to Chris for being an integral part of my healing process.  Thank you Chris! . - JW
